Transparency Act
Introduction
Spot AS has integrated the Transparency Act as part of its ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 frameworks.
As part of this, management conducts quality control to ensure that Spot AS complies with applicable laws and regulations in all markets in which we operate.
We are audited annually by KIWA.
Systems subject to quality assurance and external audits include:
Quality Management System ISO 9001
Environmental Management System ISO 14001
Occupational Health and Safety ISO 45001
Internal Control and HSE (Avonova Digital)
Compliance Assessments
Deviations and Corrective Actions
Improvement Plans
Supplier Performance and Certifications
This ensures that we continuously monitor both our own operations and those of our key suppliers in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as performance related to responsible business conduct (e.g., information security, environment, sustainability, and human rights).
The Transparency Act aims to ensure that businesses in Norway respect and disclose how they handle adverse impacts related to human rights and working conditions in the production of goods and services.
Spot AS due diligence assessments
Spot AS Due Diligence Assessments
1. Embedding:
Spot AS is ISO certified according to ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and will be ISO 45001 certified by Q2 2024. As part of the management team's annual “Management Review,” a Compliance Assessment is conducted. This is a quality check to ensure that Spot AS complies with applicable laws and regulations across all of our business areas.
In the same “Management Review,” we also quality assure our routines for reviewing:
Quality Management System ISO 9001
Environmental Management System ISO 14001
Occupational Health and Safety ISO 45001
Internal Control and HSE (Avonova Digital)
Compliance Assessments
Safety and Deviations
Improvement Plans
Supplier Performance and Certifications
This ensures that we continuously monitor both our own operations and those of our key suppliers to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as performance related to responsible business conduct (e.g., information security, environment, sustainability, and human rights).
Spot AS’ “Management Review” is audited annually by an external ISO-certified audit company (KIWA), which verifies the execution and content of the year’s review. These documents will be made available to stakeholders upon request.
Spot AS is committed to human rights and gender equality. While we have a majority of male employees, women are represented at various levels within the company. In addition to complying with all applicable laws and regulations, we are committed to equal pay for women and men.
Our environmental certification, ISO 14001, ensures the quality of our environmental performance—both in terms of our own environmental footprint and our ability to guide customers and suppliers toward more environmentally friendly alternatives. Our goal is to be at the forefront of our industry in this area.
Our occupational health and safety certification, ISO 45001, ensures our focus on safe and health-promoting workplaces by preventing work-related injuries and illnesses and proactively improving workplace performance—for our own employees, project workers, and hired personnel across the organization.
Spot AS is a production company specializing in piping systems, steel structures, and mechanical services for land-based process industries, oil & gas, and healthcare institutions. Our customers include both public and private entities.
In addition to adhering to all applicable laws and regulations, we are committed to always acting with “fair play” toward everyone we engage with—whether competitors, customers, suppliers, or authorities.
2. Identify and Assess Negative Impact:
Mapping involves knowing your suppliers and partners and identifying potential negative impacts by creating an overall risk picture, then prioritizing significant risk areas for further analysis. Spot AS has evaluated its suppliers based on the following criteria:
Size (based on revenue): To identify our largest and most dominant partners.
Dependency: To understand our level of dependency and vulnerability in relation to these partners.
Country of operation: In which country is the supplier based? We know that human rights and working conditions are often weaker in many parts of the world.
Likelihood of non-compliance with the Transparency Act: Based on our strong familiarity with our largest suppliers.
Do we assume the supplier works with other foreign suppliers? Increased international activity raises the risk of human rights violations and corruption (see point 3).
3. Halt, Prevent, or Reduce:
Based on our assessments, we actively request relevant information from our suppliers to ensure that all links in our value chain are aware of and compliant with the requirements of the Transparency Act.
4. Monitor:
Monitoring evaluates whether Spot AS conducts proper due diligence and follows up on any deviations uncovered. We have therefore chosen to include the annual supplier review in the “Management Review” to ensure continuous focus and follow-up.
5. Communicate:
Spot AS shall be transparent about the assessments we make in our value chain and will report openly on any deviations and the corrective actions taken.
6. Remediate:
If a breach occurs, we will implement corrective measures to ensure that those responsible in our value chain rectify the issue. If we are not directly responsible for the breach, we will ensure that the responsible party takes action.
